Day 3 helping Greg and his family clean up after the Grasshopper Fire — and this time we found something we weren’t expecting. The wildfire got hot enough to compromise the concrete foundation itself, a process called spalling, meaning even the slab has to be torn out and repoured before they can rebuild.
We had great volunteers out today — Brandon brought his excavator and fell all the dead ponderosa snags, Sean and Lars worked a mini excavator bucking and skidding firewood. Between the crew, we cleared the foundation, bunched up debris, and got one step closer to Greg having a slab ready for his new home.
